Bespoke Post's 2015 BLKBX Review

Bespoke Post offers a special "Black Box" (BLKBX) with Black Friday purchases (boxes or shop purchases over $45, I believe) each year.  I have never received one. . . until now!  I knew that I wanted to get a Bespoke Post box for my husband's Christmas gift so, instead of waiting until the 1st, I picked it up on Black Friday and this box came free (and became a bonus gift from Santa).

What is Bespoke Post?  Billed as a men's subscription, I prefer to think of Bespoke Post as a lifestyle sub.  True, some boxes seem very geared towards men but a lot of them would appeal to anyone!  So I was expecting some men's grooming and lifestyle items in here - and Bespoke Post did not disappoint.  Their regular subscription boxes are a little pricey at $45 US (or $55 for a one-time purchase).  Shipping to Canada is an extra $10 but I have found a few boxes that will not ship here (one I really wanted was "too heavy").  Boxes do ship once a month but you can easily skip a month or swap out the box they've selected for any other available box (there are usually a few new options as well as some old favourites).  If you forget to skip or swap, they will send you your default box for the month, as many of these types of subs do.

This particular box was free with purchase (there will likely be another one next year FYI) but it will also show you the type of items and quality of products (I can not stress the quality enough!) that Bespoke Post offers.

First look:  lots of little, individually wrapped items :)

Line of Trade 40" Leather Shoelaces ($9 value)

Shoelaces are handy.  My husband tends to wear black dress shoes (or running shoes, for that matter) but either he'll use these or we'll pass them along to my dad, who wears shoes of many colours :)

Line of Trade Collar Stays ($7 value)

My husband does wear dress shirts.  A lot.  I'm not sure how useful he will find these but they're nice to have.

Dr. Squatch Pine Tar Soap, 2.5 oz ($3.50 value)

This smells. . . very manly.  I kind of like it.  My husband doesn't usually do a lot in terms of skincare but I think he can manage using a bar of soap.  I put it in the shower for him.

Mikov Fish Pen Knife ($8.66 value)

This is really cute.  It might be my favourite thing in this box? I don't know how likely my husband is to carry a pen knife like this but it's handy to have.

Seven Stills Cocktail Bitters ($3.75 value)

Oh, who am I kidding? This is my favourite thing in this box! We got into bitters a few years ago when we were gifted a variety of different flavours.  These are small batch bitters and we will definitely be trying them in some cocktails on New Year's Eve!

Cremo Shave Cream, 1oz (approx. $2 value)

My husband doesn't usually use shaving cream - just hot water (ouch!).  That said, he was intrigued by this and will try it out.

Overall Verdict:

This box cost me nothing and includes useful, quality items, valued at about $34.  That's awesome! It also came with a coupon code for $10 off of a $75 purchase in the Bespoke Post shop.  Since that won't even cover shipping of most items from their shop, I likely won't use that but this is still a really nice gift with purchase!  I love extra bonuses like this :)
